Event description

The newly established Powell/Fouché Latin Project features some of the brightest talent in Afro-Caribbean music. The band makes its Blue Note Jazz Fest debut at Subrosa on June 19, featuring special guest and world-renowned trombonist Jimmy Bosch.

Bandleaders Louis Fouché and Jonathan Powell became friends in 2012 while touring the globe with 10-time Grammy winner Eddie Palmieri in his salsa and latin jazz ensembles. Palmieri features both Fouché and Powell on his newest album, “Sabiduría,” which premiered worldwide on April 21.

In addition to Palmieri’s groups, Fouché currently performs on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert with the house band Jon Batiste & Stay Human, and Powell has toured with Ricky Martin, JT Taylor of Kool & the Gang, and Arturo O’Farrill’s Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra.

Eddie Palmieri’s music and mentorship inspired Powell and Fouché to form a band to pay tribute to Palmieri’s hard-hitting, innovative style while also infusing their own diverse musical influences.

The Powell/Fouché Latin Project’s concerts include original compositions and instrumental adaptations of Latin classics – all of which are sure to keep you dancing! Their debut album is slated for release in late 2017.
