About JOHN COLTRANE: An American jazz saxophonist, bandleader and composer. He is among the most influential and acclaimed figures in the history of jazz and 20th century music. Born and raised in North Carolina, after graduating from high school Coltrane moved to Philadelphia, where he studied music. Working in the bebop and hard bop idioms early in his career, Coltrane helped pioneer the use of modes and was one of the players at the forefront of free jazz. He led at least fifty recording sessions and appeared on many albums by other musicians, including trumpeter Miles Davis and pianist Thelonious Monk.
About SALSA MEETS JAZZ BAND: A unique Los Angeles band created for the pleasure of jazz, latin jazz and salsa music fans. Salsa Meets Jazz was a famous now legendary music series which took place at the Village Gate in New York during the 1980s. Now Los Angeles not only has its own version of Salsa Meets Jazz Series but also an Orchestra created to evoke and preserve one of the greatest times in Jazz, Latin Jazz and Salsa with classic and original songs.
