Celia Cruz: 100 Years of Azucar!

Los Angeles will commemorate the centennial of Cuban salsa legend Celia Cruz with a concert celebration honoring her 100th birthday at the world-famous Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood.

The Salsa Meets Jazz Band—a renowned ensemble within the city’s vibrant jazz, Latin jazz, and salsa scene—will bring its signature high-energy sound, blending classic standards with original compositions that pay tribute to the golden age of the genre.

For this special occasion, the band will feature Norrell Thompson, a Los Angeles–based salsa and Latin jazz vocalist celebrated for her powerful voice and electrifying stage presence. Thompson has long been a prominent figure in LA’s salsa community, making her a fitting guest artist to honor the “Queen of Salsa.”
