The Music of LOS VAN VAN with Salsa Meets Jazz Band

About LOS VAN VAN: One of the leading musical groups of post-revolutionary Cuba. It was founded in 1969 by bassist Juan Formell, who directed the band until his death in 2014. Formell and former band members Changuito and Pupy are some of the most important figures in contemporary Cuban music, having contributed to the development of songo and timba, two popular dance music genres.

About SALSA MEETS JAZZ BAND: A unique Los Angeles band created for the pleasure of jazz, latin jazz and salsa music fans. Salsa Meets Jazz was a famous now legendary music series which took place at the Village Gate in New York during the 1980s. Now Los Angeles not only has its own version of Salsa Meets Jazz Series but also an Orchestra created to evoke and preserve one of the greatest times in Jazz, Latin Jazz and Salsa with classic and original songs.

About CATALINA JAZZ CLUB: Housed in Hollywood and decked out in a timeless charm, the club offers a cozy ambience under sparkling stage lights garnished with its signature concoction, Jazz. Over the past 36 years, the Catalina Jazz Club has hosted the most illustrious legends of all time from Dizzy Gillespie and McCoy Tyner, to Joshua Redman, Kenny Burrell, and Steve Tyrell, among others.
