About Lazaro Galarraga: A renowned Afro-Cuban percussionist and vocalist, known especially for his mastery of traditional Afro-Cuban folkloric music and rumba. He is considered one of the most important ambassadors of Afro-Cuban religious and secular music, particularly Santería and batá drumming, as well as rumba guaguancó. Maestro Galarraga held the prestigious position as lead singer in the band of Cuban bassist and composer Israel "Cachao" Lopez, and is a living master of his homelands rich folkloric musical traditions.
About Orquesta Ritmo Alegre: With a direct lineage to the creators of the Danzón-mambo, Israel & Orestes Lopez, Orchestra Ritmo Alegre explores the repertoire of Cuba's golden age of music. The group has a traditional charanga instrumentation of strings, flute, an Afro-Cuban rhythm section, and features master Cuban vocalist and percussionist Lazaro Galarraga.
